So, life goes on. I recently moved corp and I've never been happier, a small team of awesome people who basically specialise in bringing the hurt. And with this corp move has come a good few kills, standard can flipping affair mostly although one was a kill made through my setting a can flipping trap by can mining with a Navitas then coming back with a Small Neutron fit Thorax, the fight lasted about 5 seconds and I fired about 4 shots before the Inquisitor was vapour. And it is through this can flipping trapping that I came onto my latest and undoubtedly greatest kill.

There I was, sitting mining into my can, browsing the web, waiting for a chancer to try his luck; nothing was going though. I was just thinking about giving up when a Megathron warps into the belt. Odd, I think, but what the hey, maybe he's chasing someone. I carry on mining. Shortly after, I notice that another can has been put out in the belt and rub my hands together. I'm not above changing from flip trapper to just flipper if the opportunity presents itself. So I check who the can belongs to, assuming it's one of the 3 n00bs who are in the belt with me, but it's not them, it's the Mega pilot. He's mining into a can right beside me. I feel my heart speed up already, this could be a big one. I check out the pilot, he's less than a month old, so either he's an alt or he's bought, and he's in his own corp, on his own. No risk of corpies warping in and no real skills to be worried about, excellent. But, a Mega can still easily tank my little Incursis, so I decide to call in some back-up from my corp. I warp out of the belt to grab my Incursis and some extra ammo just in case, and wait for them to turn up, keeping an eye on my scanner to make sure the Mega's still there. They turn up soon after, but the Mega's left the belt, and apparently, the system. We decide to see what happens if we flip the can anyways, which I do promptly. We wile away the minutes, scanning for him in system. With 3 mins to go, he turns up again in local. With that comes a frantic search around the system, seeing if we can't track him down. With 1 min left, one of my corpies yells that the Mega's back in the belt. We all warp to him and I begin orbiting him, hoping he'll do something stupid in the final 30 seconds on the clock. He locks me and my heart skips a beat, could I be true? Will he do it?

He doesn't, instead he just starts mining again. Damn.

I try dropping a can to see if he'll bite, but no dice. We decide to leave him be for the moment and come back later to see if he'll perhaps drop a can again as he's obviously not playing at the moment. But, just as I'm about to warp out, he drops a can right in front of me. I immediately move to it and flip it, more to be a pest rather than actually expecting him to attack me. I move away from him to my dropped can to pick up the 1 ammo I put in it and suddenly, he turns red and my shield drops a little. He's fired on me, I think, Holy fuck he's actually fired on me! And, with a medium blaster, which is doing about the same damage as high sec belt rats. I rush to orbiting him and open up, deploying my drone as well. I call on my corpies to help, but he's not shot at any of them, just me. I must've pissed him off just that bit more. What's better is my T2 Ions are slowly, but happily, chewing through his shield, and then his armour. All my corpies can do is sit and laugh as they watch a lone frigate beat down a Mega. As he's reaching half armour, I swither on whether I want a ransom or the killmail. Whilst the kill would be an awesome thing to have on my sheet, the ransom would pay for my PvP for the next 2 months or more. I decide to ransom him, so I try to open up a convo, but all I get is that he's offline or otherwise unreachable.

Psh, oh well, kill it is. ^^

A couple of minutes later, his Mega goes up in a magnificent explosion and I have one Battleship kill under my belt. After surveying the wreck and the mail however, I see just how badly fit he was, and how lucky I was. He had Mim light and Med Tech 1 drones along with a missile launcher. Even with his very limited skills, he still could have beaten me, but he didn't use any of them and now I have this mail to always prove that just when you think you've seen every stupid thing a n00b will do, they'll do one more.
Where to start, where to start... Well, I guess, seeing as this is my first story, I'll start by telling you all a little about myself. I've only recently started playing eve, and for the first month or so, I was content to do the carebear dance. Mine was missions and the never ending cycle of "go somewhere, kill this, come back, get paid a meh amount of cash, repeat". And then one day I stumble on this site, and suddenly my mind starts working. I plan ships, fits and how I would go about being a pirate; because really, you guys sounded like you were having a hell of a lot more fun than I was.

So, after some research, and as a Gallente pilot, I settled on an Incursis as my first pirate ship, using a fit I found on this very site. Everything was ready, all I needed was a target. My home at the moment is a bit of a hub, with a lot of stargates, so I have plenty of choice. I warped around for a while, checking out nearby systems for anyone stupid enough to be mining into a can. And, as always, a perfect target presented itself: an Osprey mining into a can. I check out its pilot, just in case there should be a chance of a really nasty surprise. His data says that hes 3 years old, oh dear this guy might not be the best target I think, but then I realise that there are big gaps in his corp changes and that he's only just joined a new corp a few days ago. Ahah! He's only just come back to the game, perfect. I quickly set my standings to his corp to awful to check whether he's got some bad ass corpies in the next belt. Nothing, he's all alone. Even better.

I warp casually up to his container, jettison my livestock (specifically bought for the purpose) and then steal about 70k of Plagi. He must've just been about the come and haul it away. Anyways, I sit and orbit him closely, waiting for his response. He sits and mines some more, and then he turns and warps away. Oh hoh, this'll be him grabbing his combat ship then. I can feel my heart already hammering in my chest at the prospect of my first fight, and if its vs a combat ship it'll be even better. Soon after, he comes back in a Caracle. Hrm, missiles, if he's fitted with small missiles this might go badly for me, they don't lose their tracking at close range after all. He flashes red and 2 missile slam into my shields, doing an average amount of damage, I sense that this could go well for me. I scram and web him and open up with my T2 Ion blasters, whilst orbiting at about 500m. His shields start to go down, not as quick as I'd like, but I remember that this is a Caldari ship and, further more, I know the Caracle's armour is paper thin. We're on about even damage as both our shields go down about the same time, this is a fun fight I think, it'll be close. His next volley hits my armour and does a pitiful amount of damage as it hits my 200mm plates. His armour, on the other hand, has no buffer and starts to drop quickly; much quicker than mine. I smile as I sense that I have the victory, and sure enough, he pops in a glorious ball of flame that initiates me as a can flipping pirate.

Oddly though, his pod doesn't seem to be going anywhere, so I nab it with my scram, mainly just because I can, and open up a convo. First offering a gf, but then not quite knowing what to do from there. I'd read about ransoming, but at the same time, I was sifting through the loot that his Caracle dropped. It was a pathetic collection of cheap launchers, cheaper ammo, and civvi modules. I raised an eye brow at that one. He didn't seem to be able to afford to fit a pretty cheap cruiser, it wasn't likely he could give me much even if I demanded it. So, being a bit of a softy and also just being happy I didn't get ganked into next week on my first pirate run, I let him go. He didn't reply in the convo the whole time, but immediately he buggered off back to station and that was the end of the encounter.

A fun first outing I must say, although I'd have liked some better loot, I mean, a civvi armour repairer?! >_>

Ever since I first got into EVE, I wanted to do pvp. It just seemed like it was the most exciting thing to do in EVE since there were actually consequences to losing against another player. I asked too many questions about how to fit a ship and what was good and how to tackle, all the things necessary to yarr properly. I trained my skills so that I could manage some good dps in my Thorax and itched to go out and kill something. Finally after only a couple months, I earned my first kill.

I had decided to put the missions to the side for the night and head over to the closest low sec I could find, Oulley. I figure that the best way to get into a fight is to just sit still like the young n00b I am and wait for some big mean pirate bully to come and blow my Thorax up. I warped out to one of the belts and just as I finished with the last rat, a lone Rifter warped in almost right on top of me. I was in the process of locking but he aggroed first, so I threw my hammerhead II's at him and opened up my guns up as wide as they could go. When his armor was at 50% I looked at my own shields and armor and they weren't even touched! This can't be right, why haven't I taken any damage? I quickly looked over my entire screen to see what he was shooting at when I noticed I only had 2 Hammerheads left! Queue the facepalm and the lesson learned, so I pull them back in so he drops target on them. But the poor bastards didn't get to see the explosion as the Rifter popped and left me a little basket of goodies. I tried to snag and ransom his pod but my underdeveloped targeting skills could not lock on fast enough. I offered him a good fight in local, which he quietly returned before leaving system. The things he left for me were nothing special, but enough to pay for some new drones.

I replayed the explosion in my head a few times, but soon the adrenaline subsided and the pangs of my starved ADD wanted me to go back out there and make some more ships go boom. So I went to the nearby system Maut to see if I could find another person to shoot at. It didn't take long for my sit and wait strategy to bring me another opponent, this time a Vexor. Now I do not claim to be an expert on builds or setups, but I am pretty sure the tank on a Vexor should have outlasted mine. But once my drones and blasters started up, his sheilds and armor seemed to fall off and run away. He had to have been stabbed as well because he was able to warp away and left me with nothing left to do but offer a "gf :-(" in local, which he didn't return. Since I cannot probe and I didn't see where he might have warped to, I let him go and moved on to another belt.

I was in the process of looting the rats I killed when another Rifter warped in to the belt. Since I felt cheated out of a Vexor kill, I figured a Rifter boom could satisfy me. I didn't waste any time sending my drones after him and tackling him. He took much longer to kill than the first Rifter and thankfully he didn't go after my drones. Even so, the guy never got my armor past 75% so I had another goodie bag to pick from and another pod to try to ransom. Too bad he got away too. We exchanged gf in local and I headed back to base to drop off all the stuff I picked up.

I decided to head back out to Maut to try and see if I could snag another kill. I think maybe this whole killing other players thing could become an addiction as I was craving to make another ship explode. This was all that ran through my mind while jumping into the system so I didnt notice the big Myrmidon chilling there exactly 15 km away from me. I began to align to get out of there and head to a belt, but the guy locked and tackled me faster than campus security tackling a dirty hippie. So I turned right back around and high tailed it to the gate as fast as my afterburners could take me (yeah, I still cant do MWDs yet) and luckily I jumped through right as he was cutting into my structure.

I decided to call it a night after that while I still had a ship to speak of. I would say it wasn't a bad night for my first ever pvp outing. I learned a lot about fighting other players and recognized areas where i could improve upon. Maybe the kills I got were lucky and I am not truly ready to go out and fight people. All I know is that I want to become a pirate and I want to keep this killing business going as long as I possibly can. This business is just too much fun to want to do anything else.

War, my favorite activity. War is my business, I enjoy my work. My desire to do this work started a very long time ago in Erila. I was in my second private corporation. I joined Apex Elite Security after my own initial corporation proved impractical for one person to run. Most of our operations were those of the mining variety. All of our other work consisted of security work for Caldari Navy. Inoue was home to all of us, it had everything we needed, but not everything we wanted. It was only a matter of time before our members grew restless and began roaming into Erila and Horkkisen.

There was always the burning curiosity for new pilots to explore the low security systems. We didn't know about the prevalence of piracy in low security, we simply knew that there were "bad" people out there, so it came as something of a surprise when one of our members' brutix was being attacked while hunting guristas. Naturally, we were all enraged, but still timid to the thought of engaging another capsuleer, one who probably knew more about what he was doing than we did. I hopped into my brand new, and poorly fitted Moa, Vlad in his caracal, and Drake in his bellicose; we tore space heading over there, just in time to see the our corpmate's pod approaching the gate back to inoue. We went to the belt where it happened, not knowing what we wanted, but definitely finding out what we didn't.

We arrived to see a rupture floating about, it's pilot, Sinickal, wasted no time in showing us what she was there for and proceeded to lock onto Drake and engage with great fervor, the kind only seen by people who really enjoy what they do (I only experienced this later). Drake, like us, had no idea how to fit a ship effectively for any purpose, we all went for the fabled "MacGuyver" fit that so many new pilots choose to go with; his bellicose didn't last long, all the while we were firing everything we had at this pirate, this person of low moral fiber. Next one on the spit was Vlad, he was the first member of our corp to have a cruiser, it's a pity that it had to go without a single kill under it's belt.

I really don't need to put very much detail into the combat because if you're reading this, you can probably imagine more or less what happened. All I need to point out is that at that time, warp core stabilizers had no penalties that would deter even a new pilot like myself from fitting them, and it saved my moa. Saved it so I could warp off, defeated. I felt demoralized, I was a director, we had just recruited a new pilot not more than an hour prior, and we got sent running with our tails between our legs. After the obligatory, "We're going to keep coming back until you're dead" type of conversation that almost always happens when young capsuleers get their first taste of combat was over, we took to decreeing that Erila was off limits for our corp, we even took such a stance as to tell our people that they shouldn't shoot each other because it wasn't good comradery. Eventually, I learned to respect what Sinickal did to us that day; she inspired me to learn more about fighting, that's for certain, but she also made such an impact as to be the first big step to being the pilot I am today. Also, yarr.

Fly Safe kids,
Gun.
