since then, (this was two days ago) i've gotten two bursts (yes BURSTS) from canflipping, both of which attacked ME first, and bagged a 5m ransom on a scythe. If you want to hear about any of those, or want to give constructive criticism or something, please Comment.
Thanks for reading!

The Old SwitchTheIbisForTheMegathron Trick
Posted by Darktrinity in
Sunday, August 31. 2008
About 2 weeks later I spotted him in one of my corps mining belts (I was mining at the time) so I decided I would get a little revenge on behalf of the corp. I travelled back to station and grabbed just an old empty Ibis. I knew that this enemy was smart, but not that smart. Smart enough to know if he could kill a ship or not, but not smart enough for what I was about to do.
I took my Ibis to a nearby belt that had some rats and I let the rats pound my shields and armor down to almost hull. I then travelled back to the system where the enemy lay jetcan mining in a retriever. I swapped the ore and named it "I dont have weaps, but what you gonna do punk". I knew of course that he had drones on board capable of killing the rest of my already badly damaged Ibis.
Just as I had planned, he whipped out the Warrior I's and they started zapping away. About 20 seconds later I was back in station and changing into my Mega. A further 30 seconds later and I was within 5 meters of him. A further 15 seconds later and I was watching his Pod warp back to station.
A very small victory, but worth it in my opinion ; )

Teaching miners to steal ore

Pirate stories don't exactly come thick and fast for me because I'm not a full-time evil criminal. I do however want to get as much as possible from my monthly subscription so I try to get involved in everything the game has to offer. This means that it's great for me to have two characters and a dual identity.
One character is trained for PvP, has been in a merc corp and has no worries about losing his sec status for a little bit of fun. I respect piracy and PvP in general as being the most creative and challenging gamestyle available and I couldn't do without my fix once in a while. My other character is a member of a mission running/mining/industrial corp. The idea being to provide a safe environment, away from all the bad guys for new players to get into the game. My excuse is that we're trying to do something for the community but OK... I'll say it - we're carebears.
It will come as no surprise to the readers of this site that we cannot keep our rookies safe from the nasty PvP all the time. We practice flying in a gang, do some low-sec stuff and frigate tournaments. All the normal things to help people to be able to defend themselves, but at the end of the day some people get it and others would rather avoid it.
What happened the other night gave me hope for the new generation.

This War Never Ends
Posted by Rooker in
Friday, August 10. 2007
After a spectacular gank of a very nasty NOS/blaster/ECM Domi, plus a few other ambushes, Kiss546 rapidly came apart and eventually disbanded. It was a short and boring war, but it ended with a clear victory.
Fast forward to today. UCAM has mutual positive standings with The Makhai, Hydra, Knight Raven and Pure alliances. This lets us travel through and play around in Vale of the Silent. I've been having a lot of fun recently killing people who don't belong there.
Last night, someone spotted a former member of Kiss546 in Vale, a character named True Forces. I remembered the name as a former war target and looked up the system where he was reported. It was only two jumps away. I decloaked my Nemesis stealth bomber and flew straight there.
After jumping in and seeing that he still was in local, I warped to a safe spot, recloaked and started scanning. It didn't take long to see that he was in the asteroid belt around Planet VII. I also saw that I had a problem - True Forces was flying a Drake, a ship that I probably could not kill with just a Nemesis.
There was just the two of us in local, so I convoed a Hydra pilot that was in the system I had just left. After I explained the situation, he started moving toward the system. He also, apparently, called for more backup. Several Hydra pilots showed up a few minutes later. Once they were settled on the gate one jump away, it was time for me to tackle the Drake.
I warped into the belt. Amazingly, although I'd been in local for five minutes, this guy had continued to sit there ratting, not 20 kilometers from the warp-to-zero point in the belt. Unfortunately, either he was aligned at full speed or I'm a noob that fails at targeting. He managed to warp out before I could tackle him in a sensor-boosted frigate. Bleah.
As the rest of the gang jumped into the system, I started scanning again. I picked him up near Planet IV and warped. He wasn't there. I scanned again and found him in the planet's asteroid belt. However, he warped out just as I arrived. This time, he had gone to a gate and jumped out of the system. The gang followed.
He led us on a merry chase through the next system and narrowly avoided three tackles. Finally, he warped to another stargate and jumped out again. Unfortunately for him, someone had gotten there ahead of him.
By the time I got into the next system, four Hydra pilots had him pinned down. It was all over with except for the pretty explosions.
[2007.08.01 06:12:18] (combat) Your Caldari Navy Cataclysm Cruise Missile hits true forces [SIZLE](Drake), doing 332.5 damage.
He managed to escape back to empire with his pod, but his T2-fitted Drake was history.
The war against macros, isk farmers, isk sellers, chat channel isk spammers and anyone that would protect any of them continues, whether Concord sanctions it or not...

Path to covetors

Vaere has a nice sky and a familiar layout, best place to start on my way. The trusty old incursus is renamed: 'stinkursus'. old Dihania's Vexor is renamed: 'vexocraptor'. Than stinkurusus leaves the ship hangars of the station and flaots silently in the space through the undock.
Not much point for scannin I reckon and there is no one else to argue with that, alone. Belt one, empty, belt 2 empty, belt 3 empty.. by now I'm asking is this is the right thing to do, but than, vexor mining in a can. I get closer , jetisson 1 piece of antimatter and than switch the minerals in the can.
The 'victim' stops mining and I stay and watch, will it agress? will it obliterate me ? will it just start mining again ? DRONES COME OUT! I try and scramble and target the drones, I soon realise I have no chance and run. Yes, run. No point in loosing a ship and the crew when you can fight another day. But it's not just that....
Soon the vexociraptor leaves the station towards the belt. I can't wait so I start scanning this time and yes, he is there. I slowly move towards the enemy hsip blinking red. I check info, he is in a much much large corp (mine has only me
1, 2, 3 small nosferatus engage the enemy, 1, 2 small neuts soon follow. web is in full effect and the scrambler makes it's second cycle. nothing can change my course now. I target his dornes and start killing them with my trusted wave of warriors. A couple minutes later he has no drones and has enagged the self destruct sequence. I check local again, he has no more mates in local.. some corp, I'd rather be alone... The timer counts down but just as I'm about to lose hope, he reached hull and soon becomes cosmic dust.
Not much was gained fomr the wreak, but it has sealed my path. The vexociraptor docks and Vaere goes silent yet again.
A new day begins and the excitement of the kill is still echoing. Time to roame the belts again and find more, much more targets. But Vaere is silent, 20 in local, missin running, passing by, reading the news..
So the stinkursus makes it's way to the nreby system of alentene, a better populated system but with only 3 belts.
This proved to be fruitfull, as in the second belt a huge gang is mining in a can. I stick around and observe as in slow motion the cycles of the covetor reaping teh asteroid of it precious ores and miner drones serving their master. As time goes by I notice the iteron III coming out of warp and aproaching the can, then moving away, and warping off. Time to check those contents before the beast gets it all.
I make haste and burn the ships afterburners to full speed on a colision course with the covetor near the can, and bang, direct hit. The huge ship moves a bit and I have to reaproach the can. 1 peace of antimatter goes in space and a new can apears on the overview. Soon after the old can explodes in cosmic dust.
And than I wait. The modules are on, prepared to be fired, the blood fills the veins and the pulse goes like a crazed drumer on votka. And than the gang moves, the miner drones are called back in and soon new drones come out of some of the bays. And sooner than I think I'm in armor, and the repper is barely cycling when I'm reaching hull... phew, emergency wapr iniated and I'm safe at a planet. The stinkursus docks and I go stare at the alentene sun and figure this out.. yes, must get the vexociraptor here asap. Shuttle, undock, warp, jump... time slips away and the vexociraptor reaches alentene local.
As I search the bookmarks I realise I have none. This is not good. I make haste and soon the out of warp land me 10 km away form my taget. I can't believe the covetors is still there, but not only that, it is mining peacefully like nothing has happened. Timer is in full check and I can pound the ignorant fool for the next 4 minutes. Plenty of time to travel the 10km and destroy him.
Nos is active, neutralizers are active, scrambler and web are go and 5 hammerheads exit the drone bay.
But wait, the iteron beast has returned and has just taken the contents of my can. AND I just got myself two targets
In no time I hit afterburner and hit the industrial, switch the scrambler fomr the covetor to the iteron and the covetor explodes leaving a wreack just for me. And in no time the iteron follows. I've sent tthem to ship heaven.
And yes "'strips' come from a can, they were put there by a man"

I chat a little in corp with the other guy in Oyst and then soon after I get another application, we are now 3 pilots which sets me in a good mood. A quick tour of the Cistuavert area shows that there not so many mining ops with a can and I end up back to Scolluzer. Belt 1 empty, bet 2 has a retriever can mining. I check the pilot (Norwegian| or something) and his corp and I figure he must be alone because the description of the corp says they are a small miner corp based in Metropolis. I chekc the attributes and they are under 10 people.
My vexor warp in, closes the gap, takes the can and all the ore becomes mine. 'My peanut' is how I call my cans
I warp back in and he gets out 3 scout drones and gets himself flagged. I get closer, release hobgoblins, kill his drones, he is still threatening in local and calling me names. I start nosing him too and hitting him with my drones and blasters. He goes down, reaches hull and than he goes like: "No, not my ship !!!" I say nothing but call in the drones. Check local, still quiet. He goes: "Not my SHIP you Dick head" and I blow him up. Why the hell did he have to call me a dick head ? I get 2*strips and cargo expander 1. Dock and leave my loot and move on.
Local is flashing again and he is going nuts, he will kill me, he will obliterate me, so on and so forth. I'm apparently a TWAT besides being obviously a dick head. Local guys start telling him o cald the heck down and leave it be and soon they change sides being obviously anoyed.
I warp back to the belt and find him there in a Celestis (the tech 1 gallente ew cruiser). My peanut is gone and he took back all the ore. I get closer and he gets out 3 drones again, this time meds. I use nos, web, scram, blasters, kill his med drones with my hobgoblins and procede to kill him. Than I think I should try and randsom. Convo him, he accepts, I say 'Hi', it's a randsom and he has '30 secs to pay up 2 mil'. He says nothing. I ask again,he doesn;t even say 'hi' back. I blow him up.
It turns out form local chat with other people and him (I never said a word in local after the dick head and twat calling because I didn;t feel it was worth it) that he was so sure he would kill me that he did not insure his celestis and he had no more isk for a mining cruiser, he was back at frigs.
I scored 3.5 mil isk from the barge and cruiser loot. I had a laugh being first time called names in local. Too bad he was so sure I was gonna die.

3*electrons with antimatter
1mn ab, 7.5km warp scrambler, web
sar, 200 reinforced steel plates
Quite a bit toned down and I am nervous about it but must give it a go. So as a new day begins the incursus class frigate undock from vaere station I call home and belts are being checked top to bottom. "This system is too quiet, again"
After the search is complete it's soon obvious there will not be a fight here so the best action is to move to the nearby alentene system. rinse and repeat but this time luck hits me and in the last belt a retriever is working hard, drones are out, and the can is FULL.
A new jet can apears in the emotyness of space and I think of naming it "My Peanut". Soon after "my peanut" is full of plagyoclase (if the name was memorised correctly). A cargo of 426 units of plag makes me 15k isk. So I figure out that the full can must be very valuable. Unfotunately, after many bumps and warp offs the retriever moves away.
I decide to leave the can in it's place and hope someone will bite. But to no avail.
Than out of boredom I decide to convo the original owner of the miners and try ransom, but as he put it: "I WILL NOT PAY FOR MY ORES!". And I blow up the can.
As time passes , warps after warps, waiting and waiting, no one is willing to fight for the ore and I'm frustrated: "should I move to low sec for good ?! maybe it's the incursus; this area is borring.."
I move to the nearby system of Scolluzer. Belts are in my overview and I start chekcing them fast. Another retriever mining full speed and yet again the can is full. I move quick and all the ores become mine, "my peanut". But as before the retriever moves. I check his name, his info, his corp, a 17 man corporation (if memory doesn't play tricks on me). And I wait again, waiting for boredom to set back in.
A npc corp iteron mark III apraoches "my peanut". Overview shows him flashing red and the pulse fills my ears, eyes focus, modukes are go and soon he has no more shields, blasters are hiting point blank in the armor and I remember releasing the hobgoblin.
Overview shows another ship, a caracal class cruiser aproaching the battle at full speed. I soon realise it is a trap as the owner of the vessel is teh one the ore belonged to just a couple of minutes earlier.
Gatling Afocal Maser I starts firing on my ship from the iteron mark III.
Heavy missile fomr the Caracal hits my armor but it's not as bad as I was imagining. Than two Hornet IIs start orbiting me and I realise it's a fight I will not live through.
Without blinking or hesitation I cycle the repaiere once. Than all power goes to weapons and make sure again the hobgoblin is shooting the iteron. It is going down and I still got armor to spare, but for how long ? Hull is reached and I pound it as hard as I can. Web goes offline as the enemy stoped trying to move. Cap is good for another cycle of the repairer and as the cycle ends the iteron mark III vessel explodes blanking out my screen.
And soon after the hornets start hitting my structure as I desperately try to warpout. Warping is not possible as I am warp scrambled. Insurance pays in.
Nice trap was laid down but the loss of the enemy is greater than mine. They sure got a - standing so I can spot them in local now

Well, not a fish, a Battleship actually. And damn it was close. Would have been my first PVP Battleship kill...would have...could have...should have, but the Fates stepped in and denied me my prize.
I just recently issued my first war dec against a small corp I had a run-in or two with. More on that later hopefully.
They had moved their headquarters several jumps to the south, luckily I was able to track them down fairly easily. I spent a few days getting the lay of the land and droping a few useful bookmarks in this and neighboring systems. But, after a few days of not even seeing one of their members online I decided to see if I could stir up some extracurricular fun.
I check a few belts, nothing going on...then I see her. A nice, new Mega mining away at some Kernite. Now, something about a BS mining in high sec Empire that just turns my stomach. I'm in my T-Rax, but I figured "what the hell". My belly is full of loot, so I head to the nearest station, unload, and then warp back to my new friend.
I burn it toward one of her cans, make the switch and head over to the other can. Just as I get there 5 T2 medium drones pour out of the Mega, she locks and sends them after me. I return the favor and send my Hammerhead II's at her. I trust in my drone skills, so I leave them to the ship as I begin webbing and blasting her drones. One by one they go pop. I have her locked down, but as her shields and armor begin to drop, she starts to run.
I keep right behind her with my scram as she tries to get out of range, everything's going as planned, but then I notice that she's starting to get some distance on me. I should have easily kept pace, suddenly she's out of scram and webber range. I expect her to warp off at any second, but she doesn't so my drones keep chewing on her armor and then hull.
At this point she's way out of range of my ship and I finally realize that I'd run straight into her second jetcan and I was helplessly bouncing off. By the time I corrected the situation she had realized she was no longer scramed and warped off. Before she left the belt I saw she was almost totally in the red and only had a tiny bit of hull left. If she had stayed another few seconds she would have been toast. Of course, had I had the scram on her, she would have been forced to stay a few more seconds.
I say my curses and pull in my drones. I had poped 4 of her drones, so I finished off the 5th and then went to blow up her ore in case she or someone else came back. Just as I was scooping out her second jetcan a signal appeared on my overview.
She was back, but without the badly damaged Mega...she was in a Hyperion. Needless to say, with my shields still down at a minimum and with the only ammo I had left loaded into my turrets, I decided this fight would not end well. I pulled in the drones I had destroying the ore and made a quick exit.
I offered her a good fight in local and congrats on surpsing me with the Hyper. I got no response so I headed to a station to wait down the timer. After a few minutes I head back to the belt to find her standing guard over the ore as a friend hauled it away. We had a little banter back in forth in local then she warped off to a station.
I still didn't have any war targets online so I logged for the night. It was a while before I fell asleep though...I kept thinking about how close I was to that kill. I could almost taste the burning wreckage. I realize now that I should have thrown balls to the wall and tackled the Hyperion once my shield were back up, but live and learn.
I'm sure there will be a next time. Plus now I know what my ship and skills can do in a real fight.
-------------------------UPDATE--------------------------
So, I'm on last night in the same neighborhood where I almost got the Mega. Still no war targets on, but my "friend" is. I hop through a few systems and eventually pass her at a gate. She pipes up in local warning the 4 others present that I was a can flipper/ore thief and to be wary of me. Of course, no one is mining anyway, plus this area of space is known for it's "roque" elements so I don't think anyone cared about little ole' me.
I do my thing and eventually run across my "friend" in a belt in her Hyperion. She warps to another belt, I follow, she warps to another belt, I follow...then I realize she's rat hunting NPC frigates in her Hyperion! That's almost worse then mining in high sec Empire in her Mega.
I steal the loot from one or her wrecks and then set a tight orbit. We start to banter and I make up my mind that no matter how long it takes, someday I'm going to end up with a killmail with her name as victim.
Needless to say, despite my theft and my efforts to pressure her to engage my T-Rax, she doesn't. She said I was "just a speck and not worth her time", which translates into "I'm not sure if my Hyperion would be able to take your T-Rax and I'm affraid to try." So, after 20 mintues or so, I gave up for the night and logged...I have a feeling playing with my new "friend" is going to be fun.

At first few explanations
- gazillion times heard excuse "English aren't my native language" stays tuned this time.
- this is my first story, I thought worth to tell, so please be patient with it
Background
- in real life I was, kindly left by my gf to play eve on Saturday’s evening.
- in eve, I had two active wardecs on my 2 months old gallentian ass, means flight conditions were dangerous.
- two corps: 20 old and active pilots with mostly t2 ships and modules (intel info with alt) against one man corp.
- few days ago, I left all combat ships and jumped about 16 jumps aside from war operation area, because was not very happy with how this war was going on. So I thought to myself, I would give them one boring war.
- in middle of this journey, I stopped in Gallente trade hub, there I bought and fitted Myrmidon, hoping to find new troubles.
- one bad thing though - enemy followed. Of course, they look like mission runners, so I guess they know how to use location agents.

I found a few high sec systems crawling with macro miners. I spent several days hauling away millions in their ore, but as is the case with most macro's, they wouldn't engage. They just kept mining or moved on. I did manage to collect 10 medium drones from them when something must have happened to the computer on their end and several character's went logoffski, leaving their poor drones all cold and alone in the belts. Of course it was my duty to give them a new home in my safe, warm hanger.
Anyway, things were slow but I was making a couple million ISK for about 10-15 minutes of hauling, not too bad. I got bored pretty quick though and decided to give it a rest as to not scare them away from the area. I started roaming a strip of about 10 systems in my T-Rax looking for targets, but nothing really presented itself. I did find some people jetcan mining, but no one thought their ore or honor was worth engaging over, so I'd haul some of their ore away, but mainly I'd just put it into my can and when it was obvious they weren't going to do anything about it, I'd just blow it up.
I did find a few guys who taught me some valuable lessons in the art of ore switching/stealing. In my travels I had a few guys steal "my" ore back after I warped out and I missed them back to a station. I couldn't believe how pissed I got after "my" ore was stolen. I learned that if I don't have a hauler in the system, I'm not going to take the ore with me, so I need to either blow it up in their faces or set a good trap for them. I'm still working on this, but the lessons I learned from those few guys, really helped me a lot. Plus I've marked them down in my address book as future targets. A few I'm even considering for my first war dec. I'll keep you posted on that.
All of this brings me to early this morning.
