An Ore-Blastin Good Time

This is my first posted tale on here, so bear with me. I've been ransoming for a while now, but just recently discovered the glory of eve-pirate. I don't usually make kills, I usually just random and let pilots go. There's really no reason for me to rack up a kill and get stuck with some garbage loot when I can pull in at least 5M ISK most of the time.

So, I'm bounding around my usual spots, pipe in hand, not seeing much, when I decide to pop into Uitra. With 150~ players in local, I decide there HAS to be someone worth tearing up. I'm flying my anti-frigate solo Caracal, so I'm hoping for some mining barges or something of the sort.

As soon as my warp closes on the third belt, I see a Stabber and a Moa happily jetcanning around, practically flaunting their delicious ore in my face. I scoot on over, flip it right on up, and discover that I've stolen about 20,000m3 of ore from them! Realizing that they probably won't like that, I take up a decent distance about 5km out, and within 5 seconds, I get a private convo request.

[ 2010.04.13 23:10:03 ] Kosiru Vala > Why hello there, tasty little Moa! How are you today?
[ 2010.04.13 23:10:47 ] wicktor > fuck off wanker
[ 2010.04.13 23:11:08 ] Kosiru Vala > I'll keep that in mind, good sir. Anything else I can help you with?
[ 2010.04.13 23:11:44 ] wicktor > no just fuck off
[ 2010.04.13 23:12:06 ] Kosiru Vala > Quite the language there, and uncalled-for, too! I was being quite polite!

Seeing as I was blatantly insulted, I felt retaliation was in order. Locking onto my canister, I proceed to launch a single salvo of Caldari Navi Bloodclaw missiles it's way. All their precious ore detonates in a brilliantly gorgeous flash, and their "hard" work goes down the drain. As you might imagine, this INFURIATES the Moa pilot. Locking on to me, he sets on me in an orbit flight pattern and I eagerly await the oncoming first shot. I don't yet have aggression rights on either of them, so I'm just all sorts of let down when the two of them warp out.

He then proceeds to talk to his wingmate, the Stabber, in local about (I think...) retribution:

?[ 2010.04.13 23:19:26 ] wicktor > well i got to cruisers i could deck out for cbt but to make shore heed need a few more in the fleet and we could hunt the fuck out of that prick
?[ 2010.04.13 23:19:51 ] Lone Wolfe013 > In english you meant:
?[ 2010.04.13 23:21:36 ] Lone Wolfe013 > Who's the, "prick?"
?[ 2010.04.13 23:21:43 ] Kosiru Vala > I believe that would be me.
?[ 2010.04.13 23:21:53 ] Lone Wolfe013 > What'd ya do now?
?[ 2010.04.13 23:21:55 ] Lone Wolfe013 > :-P
?[ 2010.04.13 23:22:42 ] Kosiru Vala > oh just off getting my kicks and profit, and harsh words were exchanged in my direction
?[ 2010.04.13 23:22:45 ] Kosiru Vala > so i blew up his ore
?[ 2010.04.13 23:22:52 ] Kosiru Vala > I think he's a little upset at me now
?[ 2010.04.13 23:22:52 ] Lone Wolfe013 > Nice
?[ 2010.04.13 23:23:15 ] Lone Wolfe013 > Carebears usually do cry when you do that.
?[ 2010.04.13 23:23:28 ] Kosiru Vala > the sound is ever so pleasing to my ears

My talking down about him in local proceeds to anger him further, and he "fits his ship for combat" in a valiant effort to take me down. What happens next, I was totally unprepared for.

When they finally return to the system, the aggression countdown had expired. They're insistant on fighting me, however, so I drop a canister and invite them to engage. Taking my bait, the Moa is the first to open up on me. I see that he's using a mix of missiles and hybrids, so I activate the afterburners, and move in close. Webbed, scrammed, and NOS'd, he's incapable of doing hardly any damage to me. I'm shield tanked hard, and between Bloodclaws and Hobgoblins, he goes down too quick for me to ransom. Shifting my attention to the Stabber, I run the same activities on him, but I manage to catch the missiles before he dies. I take out his wild myriad of drones (Acolytes, Warriors, I didn't see the other type before it blew up), and open a private talk with him.

?[ 2010.04.14 00:26:15 ] Kosiru Vala > So then
[ 2010.04.14 00:26:17 ] dazim666 > what
[ 2010.04.14 00:26:22 ] Kosiru Vala > turn off your weapons
[ 2010.04.14 00:26:27 ] Kosiru Vala > and we'll discuss a ransom
[ 2010.04.14 00:26:31 ] dazim666 > not bloody likely
[ 2010.04.14 00:26:38 ] Kosiru Vala > then i'll just kill you, good sir

The nerve of some of these carebears, I swear! Insult me to my face, then deny my ransom? I finalize the battle with a farewell-salvo of missiles, and hurry to check my killmails to see how much failure was really fit onto these two ships... To my suprise, the Moa was rocking a Civilian Damage control, a plethora of different weapons, and blatantly had no idea what he was up to, which I found hilarious, as he was so intent on having this fight.

They were both rocking powergrid rigs, 3 each (I really hope they didn't do that just to fight me.... yikes...)

All in all, it was a modest 40.6M ISK lost to them. I spent about 40k on ammo, picked up a small 1M+ in loot, scored 2 kills in a handicapped match, and live on to fight another day.

Good lord, these Care-bares should just grin and take it when you grief them. The amount of fail on the fittings you describe is astounding.

You are aware that Uitra is a starter system, right? Of course they'll be fail fitted if they fight you. Very few people in that system are over a couple of months old.

If you want ransoms there, try to sell them the ore back at a slight discount to market (usually works for me), or wait for their hauler to take it, and then ransom the hauler.

Oh, the big boy picking a fight with the newbs...

Why don't you pick a fight with somebody of your size?

Oh, wait, i know. You don't like fare fights.

What Pirate does?

It's like rule #1 of combat: never willingly enter into an engagement where you don't believe you have the upper hand.

Carebear elsewhere - Fly dangerously

That is not begin a pirate. It is begin a coward no matter what excuse you give.
